September 2, 2010 Gas storage report. Working gas in storage was 3,106 Bcf as of Friday, August 27, 2010, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 54 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 208 Bcf less than last year at this time and 169 Bcf above the 5-year average of 2,937 Bcf.

December 11, 2008 Gas storage report. Working gas in storage was 3,291 Bcf, a net decrease of a 67 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 45 Bcf less than last year at this time and 110 Bcf above the 5-year average. Look to see if this year’s storage catches up to last year as annual withdrawals continue over the next weeks. It couldn’t do it on the way up, but it might on the way down as winter continues.

December 4, 2008 Gas storage report. Working gas in storage was 3,358 Bcf, a net decrease of a 64 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 107 Bcf less than last year at this time and 69 Bcf above the 5-year average. It will be interesting to see how this year’s withdrawals compare with last year’s substantial early withdrawals.

November 20, 2008 Gas storage report. Working gas in storage was 3,488 Bcf, a net increase of a 16 Bcf from the previous weeks. This followed the astonishing 62 Bcf the week before…the highest November injection on record. Stocks were 51 Bcf less than last year at this time and 140 Bcf above the 5-year average. It is conceivable, if gas continues to be injected rather than withdrawn, that this year’s storage may catch up to last year’s level.

November 5, 2008 Gas storage report. Working gas in storage was 3,405 Bcf as of Friday, October 31, 2008, a net increase of a only 12 Bcf from the previous week, well below expectations. Stocks were 130 Bcf less than last year at this time and 78 Bcf above the 5-year average. However, the 3,400 Bcf range is considered adequate to meet anticipated winter needs. Analysts will be looking closely to see if there are further injections or if withdrawals will begin next week.
